Katherine E. Pardee, Esq. ('77) |
In 2008, the Dean for Undergraduate Studies invites Letters and Sciences students to apply for the Pardee Undergraduate Studies Scholarship. This award is offered to outstanding students who have attained sophomore standing or higher and who have demonstrated involvement in campus activities.
Katherine E. Pardee, Esquire ('77), graduated with a degree in General Studies. While at Maryland, she was a member of the field hockey, basketball and track team as well as the third UM student to receive a Women's Studies certificate. Tragically, Katherine was involved in a head-on collision with a drunk driver in 1981 that rendered her a quadriplegic; however, this has not stopped her from having a prominent career and becoming an extremely active alumna.
Katherine has worked for Merrill Lynch, the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, and is currently at the American Academy of Actuaries. She has made the most of her Maryland options, and in spite of significant challenges, she has been preparing for and seizing opportunities ever since.
